The Wet Foam Elution Advantage 

Our robust filtration systems capture and concentrate microorganisms and other biological particles from liquids or air efficiently based on the use of Wet Foam Elution (WFE). During elution, a small buffer volume expands into viscous wet foam, dislodging particles from the filter effectively and quickly transitioning into a liquid state for downstream applications, such as culture or molecular sequencing.

InnovaPrep, based in Drexel, Missouri, just 30 minutes south of Kansas City, is ideally located to drive innovation in the life sciences. Our roots run deep in the local community, supporting the Drexel Bobcats and engaging in numerous local initiatives. Our location near the vibrant Kansas City scientific hub strengthens our connections with key industry organizations, including the Missouri Biotechnology Association, BioKansas, MRI Global, and the Stowers Institute. This proximity fuels collaboration and keeps us close to cutting-edge developments in science and technology.

 

In addition to our Drexel headquarters, InnovaPrep maintains a satellite lab at the KU Innovation Park in Lawrence, Kansas, situated within the University of Kansas’s premier research and business development ecosystem. This state-of-the-art facility offers advanced lab spaces that enable close partnerships with high-impact life science companies, researchers, and entrepreneurs. Being part of this dynamic environment allows us to accelerate the development of InnovaPrep’s pioneering technologies, facilitating bio-surveillance, environmental monitoring, and a range of life sciences applications. Our Founders

David Alburty, Chairman of the Board, brings more than two decades of experience in aerosol science, environmental research, and biodefense applications. His career began at Midwest Research Institute (MRI) in Kansas City, where he focused on aerosol studies supporting environmental and homeland security initiatives. He later founded AlburtyLab, a research and development facility specializing in aerosol science and engineering. Today, the laboratory’s capabilities and expertise continue to support InnovaPrep’s commitment to advancing innovative sample preparation and concentration technologies for life science, environmental, and commercial applications.

 

Andy Page, Co-Inventor of InnovaPrep's platform technology, has played an important role in the development of advanced microorganism and particle collection and concentration methods. He holds numerous patents related to aerosol and hydrosol collection technologies and has extensive experience in their detection and analytical applications.

Prior to co-founding InnovaPrep, Page spent nearly eight years at Midwest Research Institute (MRI) in Kansas City, where he contributed to multidisciplinary biodefense and environmental research programs. His work focused on aerosol collection and detection systems supporting government and commercial applications, helping advance technologies used in microbial monitoring and sample preparation.
