Concentrating Pipette™ Efficiency Data on Six Organisms

Concentrating Pipette™ Efficiency Data on Six Organisms

A report called, Six Organism Concentrating Pipette™ Tip Testing, contains the methods and results of a test series using InnovaPrep’s improved 0.2µm Hollow Fiber Concentrating Pipette Tips to understand their capability for recovery efficiency on six organisms including gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria and spore forming fungus. The testing consisted of concentrating 1000 mL Phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) spiked with Burkholderia cepacia (Bc), Staphylococcus aureus (Sa), Escherichia coli (Ec), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Pa), Candida albicans (Ca), or Aspergillus brasillensis (Ab). Suspensions of each of the test organisms were prepared using BioMérieux’s BioBalls™.

Conclusions

This testing indicates the gentle nature of the Wet Foam Elution technology for retaining viability during the Concentrating Pipette's elution process using our standard PBS elution buffer.

The InnovaPrep Concentrating Pipette™  proved effective at the concentration of each of the 1 L samples into volumes under 300 microliters.  Four test runs were performed for each of the organisms.

Average total efficiencies, concentration factors, run times and elution volumes attained for these organisms are presented below:
