ACD-200 “Bobcat” Air Sampler with Elution System

The Bobcat  is a lightweight, portable, dry filter air sampler with a unique wet-elution system. It is ideally suited for the collection of bioaerosols and particulate matter; including submicron-sized particles, airborne   molecular contamination, and particulates. This system has been developed to address a broad range of air sampling requirements and is currently being tested – using simulated airborne agents – at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory.

The Bobcat was created for tactical use, and exceeds the current  requirements for the JPEO-CBD Joint Biological Tactical Detection System (JBTDS) Collector. It can be triggered by other systems, or it can be  operated as a standalone unit. Operational modes include pre-defined single sample collection, externally triggered collection, continuous  sampling, and programmed intermittent sampling for long-term  monitoring using an internal rechargeable battery.

The SpinCon Advanced Air Sampler

The SpinCon® samples air at a rate of 450 liters per minute (lpm). It can be operated in either single sample or continuous monitoring mode. The SpinCon is suitable for virtually any air-sampling task. This capacity is made possible by combining a high sampling rate with the ability to concentrate the analyte in a small volume of liquid, aided by high collection efficiency and the ability to vary sampling time. Because of its patented wet-concentrator design, the SpinCon can achieve a highly concentrated sample of particulates that other wet-cyclone designs cannot achieve, dramatically increasing the probability of detecting a hazard. And because it is not an impinger, it is far less likely to damage or destroy spores in the collection process, a factor which may be critical if confirmatory cultures are required.

The OMNI’s high flow rate (300 mL/min.), excellent collection efficiency and ability to concentrate particles into a small sample size allows the OMNI 3000 to provide particle concentrations in milliliters of liquid that are tens of thousands of times the concentrations in the surrounding air. The end result is that the OMNI dramatically increases the probability of capturing the number of particles required to accomplish a positive detection and avoid a false negative.
