InnovaPrep LLC is engaged in product development, sales, service, and related out-licensing of a collection of novel technologies enabling rapid detection of biological particles and pathogens. InnovaPrep’s core business is biological sample collection, concentration and preparation. The company has commercialized a collection of market-disruptive platform technologies for rapid, automated concentration of biological particles, allowing rapid identification without centrifugation or enrichment for most sample matrices.
InnovaPrep’s fourteen pending and awarded patents apply to highly efficient collection, recovery, and concentration of biological particles from air, surfaces, and liquids. InnovaPrep’s novel biological particle Wet Foam ElutionTM process underlies many of these patents and enables recovery of particles from filters, membranes, surfaces, and objects. The primary utility for these technologies is to greatly improve the way biological samples, especially those containing pathogenic organisms, are collected and prepared for analysis beyond the state-of-the-art. Specifically, these technologies fill a critical void that currently severely limits application of the most advanced biological detection systems to the billions of microbiological tests performed annually. This advance is 150 years overdue.
InnovaPrep was formed in 2009 to commercialize the concentration and sample preparation technology developed at AlburtyLab, Inc. in collaboration with Page Applied Research LLC. The technology was developed by a team of veteran aerosol research scientists in response to the recognized need for a macro-to-micro interface between large sample volumes and advanced detectors which require ultra low volumes. The InnovaPrep technologies, in concert with the latest detection technologies, can find threat organisms or particles at previously undetectable levels, and prepare them for rapid identification.
InnovaPrep is seeking partners for integration of the technology into various detection platforms. The novel elution method originally developed for the flagship HSC-40 liquid-to-liquid concentrator is being applied to additional technologies for capture of particles and large molecules from surfaces and for elution from filters and other sampling devices. These new technologies provide rapid and efficient transfer of particles and large molecules from air, flat surfaces or objects into a small volume of clean liquid.
The InnovaPrep technology was first developed for integration into advanced biodefense and biodetection systems, but it has application for any identifier, detector or detection method where increased sensitivity is needed. Fields of application include, but are not limited to, food, drug and water safety; medical and veterinary diagnostics research; and industrial and environmental monitoring.
